Harry Henning Jr. used to go
with his Dad to Hatfield Speedway
to watch and dream about racing.

Harry Henning Sr.,
who was the
service manager for Brenninger Motors in Lansdale, would often drive
the tow truck to the Hatfield Speedway. Here he seems to be relaxing
and getting out of the sun. You can guess now where the Henning Dodge
heritage started from.

Harry
and his sons, Bill & Harry III, then got a taste of racing the
summer of 1986 by entering an Enduro series that was held
at the old JFK Stadium in Philadelphia.
One of the last events held there before it was torn down. This was
their Plymouth Duster
that they had put together for it. They competed in 4 of the scheduled
5 races.
Bill was the driver and Harry III was the crew chief. With no racing
experience
what-so-ever they did alright. By the time the last race had arrived
they had
built a really competitive car.
After
that short adventure the racing was put on the backburner for a while,
but the taste of racing was implanted in their blood and would need to
be
satisfied again later.
That need to race returned
and Harry and his son Bill, along with Bill's Uncle, Jack Hagan, and a
few friends decided participating would be more fun than
spectating. So, 1992 was our first year racing the dirt Late Models at
Grandview
Speedway. We pretty much
built this car from the ground up
with little to no experience. Thank god our friend and chief mechanic
Terry Fox had racing knowledge.

We
didn't set the world on
fire but dang, we sure learned a lot that first season and
had a hell of a lot of fun.
